All dimensions are given in cm (L × W × H). Hemp mats are FiBL-certified for organic farming.
General Questions
Q: When should I use rolls and when pre-cut pieces?
A: Rolls are ideal for flexibility and large-scale cutting. Pre-cut pieces save time and are ready to use, especially for standardized trays such as 1010 and 1020.
Q: Which grammage is suitable for my microgreens?
A: 400 g/m² (0.3 cm) suits crops with low water demand and short cycles. 600 g/m² (0.5 cm) is a universal choice for most varieties. 1300 g/m² (1.0 cm) is best for water-demanding crops and longer cycles.
Q: What is the difference between hemp and coco mats?
A: Hemp mats are firm, structurally stable and store water well. Coco mats are lighter, more breathable and suited for fast-growing, root-strong crops. Both are biodegradable and sustainable.
Q: Are the mats suitable for organic farming?
A: Yes, all hemp mats are FiBL-certified. Coco mats are natural and free from chemical additives.
Q: What tray formats are most common?
A: The 1020 format (50 × 24 cm) is the global standard. The 1010 format (23 × 23 cm) is perfect for smaller batches or test crops.
Grammage & Thickness (Water Absorption)
Q: What do the different grammages mean?
A: 400 g/m² ≙ 0.3 cm (low absorption), 600 g/m² ≙ 0.5 cm (medium absorption), 1300 g/m² ≙ 1.0 cm (high absorption).
